‘Come Back to Me’ Encaustic Mixed Media Painting

Come Back to Me

From my Follies series: encaustic wax, graphite and ink, and ephemera on deep birch board cradle.
She is part of my (continuing) series working with follies performers from the 1920s, for whom I have a particular affinity.
This piece has a letter from a soldier sent during the war to his wife preserved in the wax, lending even more energy to the work. I obtained the letter years ago on a trip to New York City, and have been waiting for the right piece to call to it.
Currently on display in my personal collection at Sycamore Place Galleries and Studios. Come by and visit her! She’s much more enchanting in person. The depth and richness of encaustic pieces is challenging to capture in photos…
